What a difference a year makes...

Last year at this time I was celebrating spring break in sunny Palm Desert and the fact that I only had one term of grad school left, one class left to take, and a few more weeks of my internship. Jon and I flew down to PD to stay with my parents for a week, soak up some sweet sunshine, and chase away the rainy Oregon spring time blues. We hiked in the desert, I went for long early morning runs, drank date milkshakes, celebrated my mom's birthday (which usually falls during the Oregon spring break), and were visited by our dear friends Jennifer and Jacob.

This week we celebrated my mom's birthday and Jennifer visited us in Portland, but all the circumstances were totally different. I have bid farewell to a flat stomach and bikini wearing and now welcome a much more rotund version of myself. Instead of lounging pool side, we are busy nesting--Jon is working feverishly to finish the garage project and I have become determined to deep clean our whole house before the bambino arrives. I'm not sure I could have even fathomed from my Palm Desert lawn chair how different our lives would be just one year later.
