So I've also thought that acupuncture would be effective at getting things moving and flowing in my body, though I didn't realize how effective it could be at getting my emotions, mainly tears, flowing. Last Thursday after my acupuncture appointment, I left feeling a bit "off". First I was late to meet with a client, which was totally my fault because I had tried to book too many things into my day. Second when I got in my car to hustle to my next appointment, I almost immediately pulled into a large white truck and nearly crashed head on, which caused me to hyper-ventilate as a result. As I got on the freeway, I tried to sooth myself with my deep breaths, while simultaneously checking my work voicemail, returning phone calls, and texting with my client to assure her I was on my way. You all can imagine how useful my deep breathing was at that point. Once I had finished that nonsense multi-tasking, all of a sudden I felt an overwhelming desire to cry hysterically, for no apparent reason at all. This feeling continued throughout my appointment, though I did my best to stifle the tears that were longing to roll down my cheeks. Finally on my way home, I got to let a few out over the phone with Jon. But it wasn't until Saturday, in the midst of Jon's construction project, when I ran a major guilt trip on him for choosing to work on the house over hanging out with me, that I finally let it all out! I'm truly fortunate to have a hubby that seems to be able to withstand it all.
From Thursday through Sunday, I remained a little emotionally tender. On a morning grocery run, while walking back out to the car, a woman stopped in her tracks and exclaimed to me, "That is a BEAUTIFUL belly!" I smiled politely and quickly said thank you and then hurried over to the car with more tears rolling down my cheeks. Its been a bit of an emotional roller coaster.
I'm not exactly sure where this all came from, whether it was just from the acupuncture or something that had be building up for a while, regardless, I have now regained some emotional regulation. Major catharsis aside, I'm continuing to reap the benefits of acupuncture, including less lower back pain and a higher energy level. Now, if it could get the bambino ready to join us, I'd be set.

| And for those who have thought my belly may only be a large piece of fruit that I have been carrying under my shirt, here is the evidence that it is in fact my belly. |
