This is the Parent Prayer which we heard at our Yoga Way to Birth class. It brought tears to my eyes when the instructor read it in class and re-reading it now just makes me feel all those same emotions again.
As I sit here with you, my child, I am filled with joy and longing.
Before you were conceived, I wanted you; before I felt you move for the first time, I knew you; and I loved you before you readied yourself to be born.
You are the love song etched into my soul, and I promise to listen with every breath as you pluck the strings of my heart to announce your arrival and presence.
I promise to be a good parent, looking out for your safety and well-being, trusting the unfolding of your journey, and embracing every step we take along the way together.
May your life be filled with light.
