The final countdown is on. For real. Monday, 8/25 is the official due date. Time to get this show on the road. Being at work and sitting has become almost unbearable. But so is chasing around a 2 year old, so stopping work early doesn't seem like an appealing option either. I have crazy right hip and round ligament pain. And I'm afraid baby is still right occiput posterior or transverse [optimal fetal position is left occiput anterior] and that my diastatis rectus is making it difficult for baby to engage and drop properly. I'm sitting on my exercise ball at work, getting up to move every 30 minutes or so, taking long lunch time walks, doing yoga every morning, but nothing seems to completely relieve the discomfort. I think the only solution is for the baby to come out, already!
Despite my moaning and complaining, I'm trying to stay positive and still hope this is a Leo baby, not a Virgo. I had a midwife appointment yesterday and I'm dilated to almost 2cm, but baby is still high and there is little effacement as a result. I had her try to sweep the membranes again, but its difficult with baby being so high. We started talking about induction at 41 weeks, which would be Labor Day [Thanks for that one, Jon!].
I had acupuncture again today and she really tried to work on descending and moving points. She said in Chinese medicine when labor delayed they say it is because the baby is holding on to the mother's heart to tightly--a very sweet expression. I keep trying to tell baby, "come on out...it's just as cozy on the outside".
In the meantime, we are trying to keep busy. This past weekend we talked my dad into taking us out on his sailboat. Due to my delicate condition, we didn't want to go more than an hour away from the closest dock, so, we just motored down to the St. John's Bridge and back. Henry loved playing on Papa's boat for the first time.

On Monday I had hopefully my last day off with just me and Henry. We did our normal routine of enjoying a leisurely morning together, going to the dog park and running a few quick errands before a long afternoon nap. But you know your boundaries have changed when you're physically exhausted from just installing a car seat and unloading a couple bags of groceries. I think I needed the afternoon nap more than Henry.
And this is hopefully my last installment of bathroom selfies and side by side comparisons. I do find it interesting that this baby seems to be pushing my belly further out with this pregnancy. It makes me anxious to start recovering my abdominal muscles. Come on baby número dos, we are ready for you! Come on out, we all want to meet you!
