While it is somewhat of a relief to know that baby could come at any point and is well developed enough to survive outside the womb, it produces its own sense of anxiety. Every day at work, at least one person says with surprise, "you're still here!" I think the stranger comments have lessened slightly because I am exuding a mama fierceness that tells people, "just watch what happens if you try to make a remark about my size". Jon continues to think this will be a Labor Day baby, but I told him if he tells me that one more time I will either burst into tears or punch him in the face (or both). The real question is, will he be a Leo or a Virgo baby? My vote is Leo, but that's only because two Virgos may inundate our family with too much practicality.
I'm now at the point where I'm accepting any and all recommendations to speed the process along. I have twice weekly acupuncture, Mayan abdominal massage, weekly midwife appointments and today I'm going to try some chiropractic adjustments at our clinic. At my 38 week appointment on Wednesday, I was still only 1cm and my midwife said baby is riding high and not engaged. I'm afraid this baby is posterior just like his brother and therefore hasn't dropped due to his position. I was also informed that I had gained 6lbs in 2 weeks, since my last visit (oh vey!), but I blame at least half of the weight on the delicious breakfast Jon and I enjoyed before the appointment. Morning dates are the best.
So, other than feeling a little discouraged, I'm trying to keep myself busy with lots of fun things, like the day trip we took to Pacific City last weekend, lots of visiting with friends, and continuing to work full time.
