Backing up my Pregnancy - 1st Trimester

Well, I have seem quite a few IG accounts get hacked and have all of their content deleted. 😥 I think I would cry if all my IG posts from #GeronimoMoons pregnancy were deleted, so I'm going to back up my pregnancy posts and photos here...

Get ready for a trip down memory lane (for those 3 people who still read this blog 😄)

December 25, 2016: first positive pregnancy test, the faintest of lines showed up Christmas morning, so faint my husband didn't really believe me. After a couple months of trying to conceive, it was a wonderful Christmas surprise. We did try to time with ovulation to try to make a baby girl. Darker and darker lines on subsequent pregnancy tests in the following days confirmed that it wasn't just "line eyes". I was pregnant. (this photo was from the test I took on 12/29/16)

7 WEEKS: survived 2 weeks of solo parenting with my 2 year old and an epic snow storm while hubs and our 4 year old vacationed in Maui (a treat for completing one job and preparing for another). Currently, everything sounds disgusting to eat, but nausea has set in hard, and I have to snack to keep it at bay. My husband has purchased many varieties of crackers, so far wheat thins are the best option. I also co-taught a weekend intensive of Yoga Way to Birth, I shared the news with my co-teacher, but not the whole class, because I wanted her to know why I'm struggling to function like a normal human being.

8 WEEKS: the smile may not show it, but I'm feeling so irritable. My cravings are shifting constantly...every day is different. I'm dreaming of all kinds of proteins (like a turkey sandwich), but trying to keep it all vegetarian. I'm shorter of breath, and especially notice it when teaching yoga. Also, had my first midwife appointment, babies heart beat is strong, around 160. •
Thanks for joining in on these retrospectives. I've been keeping notes throughout my pregnancy and am excited to share these reflections every couple of posts, until I get you caught up to present day. Pregnancy is always such a lesson in impermanence and life's transient nature. Even re reading where I was 13 weeks ago, I'm reminded of how at the time this experience felt never ending, and yet those feelings where temporary and seem so distant compared to where I am now.

9 WEEKS ::: e x h a u s t e d. I feel like I've been hit with a freight truck...feeling so heavy and tired. Going to bed at 8:30 is ideal, but by 9pm it's mandatory. I'm not looking super pregnant in the morning, but looking 4 months pregnant by 5pm. I've been managing nausea with B6 vitamins and unisom at night (per my midwife's recommendation), and feeling a little less queasy.
Did I mention, I'm tired. 😴💤

10 WEEKS: oh, the nausea has returned with revenge. I'm feeling sicker than ever before and absolutely nothing sounds good to eat. Because I have a history of "macrosomal" babies (read: I grow big babies, 1st was 9lbs10oz, 2nd was 10lbs6oz, all variations of "normal" in my opinion, and both uncomplicated vaginal births), my providers are always worried that I have gestational diabetes, which I haven't had in either of my two previous pregnancies. So they make me take the GD test twice, once in 1st trimester and once at the end of the 2nd trimester. So, I passed my 1hr glucose test, but was so ill afterwards I am really questioning if it's worth it to take it again and my blood sugar was extremely low, like absolute bottom of the "normal range". I also had blood drawn for the new genetic screening and to find out the babies sex (NIPT). •
To round out the work week, I found out on Thursday I would potentially be laid off from my job as of July 2017 because of budget cut backs and the uncertainty of the affordable care act. 😳😣😰
•
But I had a wonderful weekend with one of my BFFs and our 4 boys on a little get away while the hubbies had their guys weekend. A roller coaster of a week.

11 WEEKS: the results from the NIPT are in... we're having a BOY! 💙😳😂😊💙
I have found myself having lots of mixed feelings about this. There is definitely some (a lot of) sadness and grieving that I will not be able to have a mother/daughter relationship. But there is also some relief because I'm not sure what I would do with a daughter and we seem to have this boy thing figured out!
We finally shared the news with our families. We bought an "it's a boy" ballon, and added to it so it read, "it's a(nother) boy!" 🎈I was a little nervous to see people's reactions, but everyone is excited and so supportive.
Also, I'm still S o T i R e D.

12 WEEKS: Hi! My name is Margot, and I'm still so tired. 😴 But maybe a little less nausea❣️ I finally announced my pregnancy in the prenatal yoga class I teach at @yogapearl. Also, I told my close girlfriends. It feels strange having people know that I'm pregnant. After nearly 3 months of just being with this quiet news, I'm feeling uneasy about it becoming public. Lastly, I nervously shared with one of my supervisors and some coworkers, which felt odd considering recent news about upcoming layoffs, but the news was well received with lots of excitement.
Dated: February 26, 2017.
