We took our annual road to visit out friends from Costa Rica over the 4th of July weekend. Unfortunately, because Josh is now coaching high school baseball, they were having a tournament that weekend, and he couldn't go camping. Fortunately, they moved into the country outside of Medford in Eagle Point and we enjoyed "psuedo camping" at their home on 6 acres overlooking a beautiful valley and creek. I also got to take Lori's Group Groove class that she teaches, which was super fun. All the kiddos got along so well and we love maintaining our connection with our Costa Rica crew...hard to believe it was 10 years ago we were all down there living and working!

We came home and had a full day to recovery before the 4th of July festivities. This was the first year we had celebrated in a long time because we are usually camping in the woods where big fireworks are prohibited and so we usually only do sparklers or other small fireworks. As the evening wore on and the boys were in bed, I was amazed by the loud sounds and lights. It literally sounded like a war zone outside. And I am privileged that I have never had to live in an area like that, but I can imagine if you had survived any type of violence, it is a super unpleasant holiday. And fortunately Isla was unbothered by the noise too. What a strange holiday!
