The first week

Hard to believe this perfect little lion was 1 week old on Monday. So far he has been sleeping and eating well and recovering from his big adventure into this world. On Thursday morning, my milk was already in and at his 4 day appointment on Friday, he was already back up to his birth weight. 'Atta boy, Leo! Henry came up on Thursday morning and exclaimed, "Mama milk got big!"
When we got home from the hospital we stopped and picked up Henry at my parents. My dad came to greet Leo in the car and Henry said firmly to my dad,"no, papa, don't touch him, that's MY baby". And when we got home and Henry got a closer look at him, he gave him a hug in his car seat and said,"I love him!" Then my heart seriously exploded. Some tears might have been shed too.
Our week has been filled with lots of moments like this.
On Thursday evening we headed over to the chapman school to watch the swifts. I know babies can't see that far, but Leo was enthralled.
Henry had fun playing soccer and "sledding" down the hill on cardboard.
The vaux swifts. Circling the chimney as a part of their annual migration. A fitting backdrop of change for the transition we are experiencing in our own family.
I have been enjoying the benefits of my placenta encapsulation.
On day 5 we ventured out to dear family friend's wedding. We learned the meaning of tag teaming. And I cried some more at the beauty of the day and the celebration of love.
On Monday, we had our newborn photos. Shelby said Leo was the most well behaved baby she's photographed. I wonder if she tells everyone that? But so far our little lion seems to be just as mellow as baby Henry was.
We sort of caught a glimpse of his smile in his sleep.
Amongst all the changes, and above all, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for a healthy and loving family. A new baby definitely has a way of putting everything in perspective. #imsolucky
