pumpkin season

Its the season of pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin patches, spooky halloween decorations, costumes and getting cozy. We have fully embraced the season with pumpkin carving and decorating with spider webs and the like. I've always been a big holiday fan, but with a kiddo, it makes it all the more festive.

Here are a couple good ones from our recent trip to The Pumpkin Patch and Sauvie Island. As an island native, I refuse to go to the island on the weekend during October. It's simply not worth the crowds and traffic. In fact, I ran into my kindergarten teacher at the Pumpkin Patch (umm, how cool is it that my kindergarten teacher still lives there, I love S.I. community), and she told me the other weekend it had taken approximately 2 hours just to get across the bridge because of the traffic. So, we opted for a Monday night visit to the patch. It was much more mellow.

Later that week we had our favorites over for pumpkin soup, grilled cheese, pumpkin carving and pumpkin pie. We thought they boys would be all about playing with the pumpkin guts, but they were more excited about the knives. Toddler-hood certainly is an adventure!

I think we're all ready for Halloween!

And yes, I'm already anticipating the next holidays and recently ordered our updated holiday PJs.
