Last night we braced ourselves for yet another night of sleep training. I laid Henry down in his crib after our normal routine, he almost immediately woke up. This was not how I had imagined it would happen. I was discouraged. So picked him up, nursed him back to sleep and tried to lay his down again. Once more, he was immediately awake and crying the moment he touched the mattress. I thought, geez, this could go one all night! So, I bravely left the room, and set my timer for 5 minutes. Much to our surprise, about 1 minute later it was silent, we checked the monitor and he was ASLEEP! What?! We were both amazed! Jon was like, "I think he has had us fooled."
Unsure what the rest of the night held, we headed to bed at a reasonable hour. Around 2am, he woke up. I set the timer for 5 minutes again. After about 1 minute of crying, he was out again! And did not wake up until 6:30am. This is nothing short of miraculous in my book! And we both feel completely validated in our efforts and proud that Henry has finally reached the point of sleeping through the night. Part of me wonders, hey, why weren't we doing this 6 months ago?? But mostly I'm just taking a deep sigh of relief that we were ALL ready as a family for this transition. HALLELUJAH!
