It's not often you get to play in your shorts on the Oregon coast, especially if it is not August. We headed to the coast last saturday to spend 5 days with my family in gearhart. Usually the annual family vacation is in palm springs in march, but because Henry's due date was the same week we would have flown south for our vitamin D binge, we had to cancel.
When we arrived in Saturday, we left a very rainy Portland and expected to spend the week held up in the house reading books, playing board games, and watching movies. But to our surprise, we where greeted with mid-60 degree temperatures (a relative heat wave) and a gorgeous sunset. The weather continued not to disappoint as we played on the beach, visited the strip in seaside, went tidepooling in cannon beach and Jon even rigged up a slip and slide for the nephews! Fortunately he has the same amount of energy as 8 and 5 year old boys.
It was nice to relax and soak up some summer vacation vibes, and very remnant of our beach vacations from our childhood. Glad my parents are continuing this multi-generation tradition.
