About 3 weeks ago, Henry decided he didn't like to be in the car. This was while on a 4 hour car ride to central Oregon with a friend and her baby. Kind of bad timing. Naturally I began to question our decision to drive with our almost 3 month old baby to San Diego.
Despite our better judgement and search for a last minute airline tickets, we loaded everyone up in the car and headed south from the Oregon coast. We took is easy the first day and made it to Medford, staying with our costa rica buddies and their little one, Rya.
The second day we amped it up a bit and drove all the way from Medford to south LA. We survived with lots of silly songs, books, and occasionally taking some car seat breaks for breast feeding. I also managed to pump a bottle so Jon and I could switch places for at least one shift and we could both get some relief.
Once in San Diego on Friday morning we were welcomed by the warm hospitality of Jon's cousin Dee, who is generously loaning us her apartment while she is in Portland at the Strauhal. Family reunion. And then we enjoyed a lovely evening at my friend's childhood home on Coronado Island for the rehearsal dinner.
Now...all we have to worry about it the drive home.
