1 month with Jonah

Well, in typical 3rd child fashion, I'm super late to the game with this post. Sorry, Jonah!

Our first month with Jonah was been so sweet. Jon took a full 3 weeks off, which was amazing. Since this was my 3rd time going through this postpartum season, I really wanted to take it slow and not to rush my recovery. I heard one doula/fitness instructor share, that "you have a placenta sized wound in your uterus after giving birth", which really helped me take it a little easier this time around and actually has made my postpartum time so much more enjoyable (surprise, suprise?)

Our first month was filled with lots of wonderful visitors, who brought us delicious food and showered our whole family with love. When my group of girlfriends came to meet Jonah and they even folded all my laundry!! This 3rd time around, I have not felt as shy or timid about accepting support from others, and guess what, it has been amazing!

Jonah has been adjusting to life on the outside well. Breastfeeding like a champ. He was over his birth weight by his one week appointment. And was up to 12lbs by his 4 week appointment. Good job buddy! We had one strange thing happen when his umbilical cord fell off, and we were left with a little stump inside his belly button. We texted our midwives the picture and they recommended going to the pediatrician, who used silver nitrate to help it heal. The nurse practitioner we saw said it was like an remaining artery that had not fully dried up to fall off with the whole cord.

Since we have taken both older boys to the beach when they were babies, we decided we needed to honor the tradition for Jonah. We enjoyed one little trip to Lincoln City, and had the most amazing weather, like 75 degrees on the Oregon coast.  So, here is the photo recap!
