Henry is 4!

I know we all say this all the time, but time flies and I can hardly believe that Henry turned 4 last month. We celebrated his birthday down in Palm Springs. Instead of lugging gifts with me, I ordered a handful of things on Amazon and had them delivered down there. And then my parents gracious hauled them back in their car so we didn't have to bring them on the plane. By far, Henry's favorite gift was his motorcycle jammies. After Henry had a melt down when his brother started wearing his old hand-me-down motorcycle jammies--I knew it was essential to find some for him. Also, every time we pass a motorcycle, inevitability, Henry asks, "Can I ride a motorcycle when I'm ten, mama?"
"No, not when you're ten."
"How about when I'm eleven-teen?"
"No, not when you're eleven, either."
"How about when I turn eighteen?"
"Yes, when you turn eighteen, you'll be able to ride a motorcycle." (then I say a prayer that this is just a phase and he'll never want to ride a motorcycle)
"How about when I'm forty-six, can I ride a motorcycle, then?"
"Yes, you can ride a motorcycle then" (please God, let him wait until he is 46 to ride a motorcycle).

Here are a few of the pics from his bday in Palm Desert:

The weekend after we got back we also had a little gathering for Henry at Overlook Park. Auntie Ingrid proved her status as the best auntie and found a football helmet for Henry. He was beyond thrilled!

he loved it
And of course we had a 4 year well child check...and we've got a healthy boy on our hands. He didn't even cry when he got his shots, just winced a little. I have so many memories of my dad doing these hearing screens with me when I was little..I had to get a shot doing his first one. Henry was 3'5.5" tall (77%) and weighed in at 40lbs (87%).

I have to say, so far it has been true what people say about 4 year olds. Its a whole new world! There is definitely such a thing as a "threenager" and we had one. The biggest difference we have noticed is how well he is playing with his brother. He has been so kind to him lately and really has taken to been a good big brother to Leo. The other day, Growing Seeds was closed, but Leo was with Marty, his nanny, so Henry had a special day alone with his just Nana and Papa, and he genuinely was sad that Leo wouldn't be there. He said, "but who am I going to play with if Leo isn't there?" As a mama, I can't tell you how much it warms my heart to see this relationship grown between them.

Happy birthday, Henry! I'm so grateful to be your mama and love you soooo much!
