Leo @ 11 months

Umm.. can someone please explain to me how it's August already? And my baby boy is 11 months old?! And I just ordered his 1st birthday invitations??!! I mean, seriously. How is that possible??

It is also crazy to reflect back to this time last year, in my final month of pregnancy. My sister told me shortly after Leo was born, that her 2nd child's first year was "all a blur". I feel like I fully understand what she was saying now. The business and fullness of our lives at this moment is overwhelming...its all too much to try to hold in my tiny little sleep deprived brain.

So what has Leo been up to this month:

• His newest trick is that he can go from sitting to standing all by himself. All those downward dogs he was practicing really paid off. He is still not quite ready to take those first steps, but I have a feeling he is not too far away from that milestone. And he is officially cruising around on furniture. 
• He continues to have separation anxiety with his new nanny share, though there are glimmers of hope that he is definitely getting more comfortable. But walking out the door with your baby crying and crawling after you, just clamoring for you is the worst possible feeling the world. There is serious mama-guilt going on during those mornings.
• He is starting to do some more intentionally signing. He was really cranky the other night, so I asked him if he wanted to go to sleep, have milk or eat. He took his pudgy little fingers and motioned toward my mouth, not his, to show me was hungry. I think Henry was earlier with the signing, but Leo definitely has him beat for gross motor.
• He continues to love to try new food and put everything his mouth, just to try. His favorites are Mac n Cheese and Greek yogurt...a boy after my own heart.
• He is still in love his big brother Henry and loves when he wrestles around with him. 
• He is definitely a water baby and will crawl directly into the kiddie pool with all his clothes on to play. No hesitation. 
• He is a total acrobatic nurser. This should be an Olympic event.
