As we're preparing for baby number 3, we're contemplating lots of changes.
First, we have decided to switch insurance carriers and have a little more freedom in with whom and where we are going birth. With the insurance change, we have left our HMO and have official switched to a birth center birth at Alma. The down side is that it disrupts all of our health care providers, but I think it would be worth it. I mean, you only give birth a few times in life and I have come to appreciate how important it is for the birth process to have providers that you can trust, and that also believe in you.
Also, we started to make preparations to potentially sell our house. The Portland housing market has been on a steady rise since we bought in October 2011 and it could be the perfect time to cash out and buy a house in a more rural setting and with a bit more space to accommodate our growing herd of boys. When we bought, we always imagined that this would be our 5-10 year house, and here we are 6 years in. And while we definitely have not out grown our house yet, especially with Jon's handy remodeling of the basement, and there are so many things we love about our neighborhood and location, we are taking the steps to update our kitchen and many other little house projects to get our house in selling condition. Even if we don't sell, at least we can enjoy all the updates we've made in the mean time!
UPDATE: we have definitely decided NOT to sell this summer/fall. It just didn't make sense timing wise and with all the changes this fall of welcoming a new baby and Henry starting kindergarten, but in the mean time, we are finishing up the kitchen remodel and working on converting the play room into a space for the baby to sleep.
Lastly, Henry graduated preschool! Even though he'll attend through the summer, though he'll reduce to 2 days a week starting in July when I move to my new half time schedule, they celebrated graduation in June since many kids will leave for the summer. Henry will head to Chief Joseph in the Fall for kindergarten!
