Our sweet little boy reached the 4 month milestone on the first of this year! You always hear about parents falling in love with their children and how incredible that feels [love this article about the neuroscience behind it]. And we are definitely head over heels for our Leo. He is bright, sweet and will look you straight in the eyes and make you feel like he can see right into your soul. However, what I was not prepared for was being the witness to watching the love grow between Henry and Leo and how amazing that is. I was more prepared for the sibling rivalry and how difficult it is to juggle two kids with competing needs. Don't get me wrong, it is very difficult. But watching Henry and Leo bond and start to play has to be the sweetest thing in the world. It literally makes me feel like my heart could burst.
So, what has Leo been up to over the past few months??
- He laughs and coo's. He especially loves it when his big brother wrestles with him and rubs his head against his belly and face.
- He is grabbing and swatting at objects. Then puts everything in his mouth.
- Speaking of his mouth, I told the peditrician at his 2 month appointment that I thought he was teething already. She said it was highly unlikely. Then at his 4 month appointment, I again mentioned the teething thing, and she said it was likely some "pre-teething". But just this week I was letting him chew on my finger and low and behold, he has CUT HIS FIRST TOOTH! Its his bottom left front tooth.
- He was rolling from his tummy to his back pretty regularly around 10 weeks old and it seems that he completely forgotten how to do that. He can wiggle his body around 360 degrees while laying on his back. Probably because he is such a chunky monkey and its just way to heavy to move around like that!
- At his 4 month appointment he weighed in at 18lbs 6oz (93%), he was 28" long (98%) and his head was 18" (100%). He is one hearty little fellow!
- In the past 2 months he's enjoyed a few firsts, including swimming at the Kennedy School and his first big trip to Eagle Crest with the Bass Family. He has adjusted well to my return to work and is easily navigating the bottle and breast.
