2 years + 20 weeks

Monday was a momentous day. Henry turned 2. And I passed the mid point of my pregnancy. I'll spare you the details of the traveling nonsense that consumed a good part of the day. You can just know it includes a Leatherman tool, a cell phone that was lost then found, a fruitless search, a $20 cab ride and feeling like I was a contestant on the Amazing Race, which included a full on emotional melt down from yours truly. But that's all beside the point.
We spent Henry's birthday morning, after an overnight layover on Kailua beach, having brunch and playing on the beach. We lucked out on our flight again and managed to have 4 seats for the 3 of us. Hawaiian Airlines gets my highest ranking of any airline in my books. Seriously.

I'll do a final recap of the Hawaii adventures, but I wanted to quickly share how amazing it was spend 12 straight days with our boy. He is developing quite the sense of humor and kept us laughing all week. I loved watching him play on the beaches and the looks of excitement and thrill as we took him to swim out in the ocean. Seeing the world through his eyes as we encountered exotic animals and new experiences around every corner was magical. Not only did I not want to leave the sunshine and warmth of Hawaii, but really I did not want to leave the sweetness of spending so much time with our little family.

As for pregnancy, I feel a little bad saying this, but I often forget I'm pregnant. Though, the reality of my bulging belly is undeniable these days. I'm happily well into my second trimester and enjoying some of the niceties of pregnancy. My only complaint is that this baby is continually dancing on top of my bladder. But who doesn't love a little bit of dancing?

On a related note, we found out we're having another little boy. I'm already having visions of driving a minivan with smelly boys to and from soccer practice. I'm embracing my inner soccer mom. It's inevitable.

  1. Another boy!?! Your dreams were right on! Congrats! Henry will be a great big brother and this will just mean that you will need to have another to get a girl for your mom, right? :) xoxo
